1.1 Well clean the tower before installation and seal all outlets with blind flange

1.2 Take measurements of inner tower for the installation of internals and packing. Check the measurements with statistics on the designs. Report any inconformity to Designing party together with possible influence.

1.3 After open the package, check quality certificates, packing list and etc. with that shown on documents.

 

There are two ways to install random packing:

2.1、Wet filling

The installation of non-carbon steel metal packing should apply wet filling way if such way it’s allowed in Tianjin. By applying wet filling way, operator should pour water into the tower after fixing the supporting plate. Place the packing into the tower from above the water and then let the packing sink and finally land on its place. The water should submerge and exceed the packing for more than one meter. Applying the wet filling way could reduce the damage and shape variation possibility of packing, evenly place packing, reduce the quantity of packing using by 5%, higher the throughput and lower the pressure-drop. The wet filling way is recommended.

By applying the dry filling way, packing should always be placed from certain height to avoid shape variation and uneven density.

Packing should be filled from the tower way to the tower center. Flat the previous packing layer after install a new one.

 

3、 Installation of internals

3.1.1 Levelness of the assembly of feeding pipe and reflux pipe should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter. Flange connections should be sealed with gasket as specified and joining bolts should be firmly fixed.

3.1.2 The total levelness of distributors should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter, and that of the distributing holes should be controlled under ±2mm／m.

3.1.3 The assembly tolerance of liquid collecting board to the liquid collector should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter.

3.1.4 Installation tolerance of packing support should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter. The space between tower and supporting rings should be even.

3.1.5 Installation tolerance of fixing ring should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter. The bolts and nuts around should be firmly fixed to avoid level deviation.

3.2.1 The internals should be installed and arranged according to designs. Clean and maintain the distributing holes unblocked after installation.

3.2.2 All fasteners, such as bolts and nuts, should be firmed fixed and no loosing is permitted.

3.2.3 If the installation of internals involved open fire, than finish the fire concerning part before installation, otherwise adopt fire proof measures. Avoid any flame on packing, especially when use only fire in installation of plastic or titanium packing. The fire proof measures should include place soaked insulator, like asbestos fabric, under the fire processed part, prepare fire extinguisher in site, the presence of specialist.

4.1.1 The relative orientation of first layer of packing and its support as per design shows. if there are no requirement or designs, the relative orientation of the first layer of packing and its support should be 45°, and all that after which should be 90°.  Packing blocks should be placed according to their number after being put into the tower to meet the conformable connection with tower wall. There should be little space left between packing blocks which should also be in proper tightness. Pull out the nails and packing belt, and than compact packing to achieve an intensive arrangement between layers. No other articles are allowed during the installation including steel wire and other wrappings (the nails of nail fixing packing could remain)

4.1.2 The installation tolerance of every disk of packing should be controlled under 4/1000 of the tower’s diameter.

4.1.3 The space between tower wall and packing, and that between blocked packing should be smaller than the hump height of packing sheet. Use the same type packing sheet to fill the space when the accumulating tolerance exceeds the hump height of packing sheet.

4.1.4 The total tolerance of packing after installation should be controlled under 4％ of the total designing height.

4.2.1 No stepping on packing when installs the wire gauze structured packing, big hump mellapak packing and plastic packing. Place a wooden board under the feet to larger the in case of shape variation.

4.2.2 Installation of the next packing disk could only begin after the previous one is inspected qualified.

4.3.3 When the tower un-roundness is effecting the installation of packing, several pieces of packing sheets should be pulled out only under the instruction of specialists to guarantee the quality.
